Legacy Read-Aloud™

Preserving family voices for children — even when distance, illness, or life circumstances make that impossible.

What Is Legacy Read-Aloud™?

Legacy Read-Aloud™ is a story-driven initiative designed to help children hear the voices of the people they love — even when distance, illness, or life circumstances prevent them from being physically present.Through personalised read-aloud recordings paired with beautifully illustrated children’s stories, families can preserve moments of connection that children can return to again and again.A familiar voice. A favourite story. A lasting emotional anchor.

Why This Matters

For children, the sound of a loved one’s voice provides comfort, reassurance, and a sense of continuity — particularly during times of change, separation, or uncertainty. While many services support children’s practical needs, fewer address the lasting emotional impact of disconnection from family voices.Legacy Read-Aloud™ offers a gentle, scalable way for organisations to support emotional wellbeing and family connection alongside existing care and education programs.

Who It’s For

Legacy Read-Aloud™ is designed for organisations that support children and families, including:• Children’s hospitals and paediatric wards
• Palliative care and family support services
• Schools and education departments
• Charities and community organisations
• Employers and government departments supporting families affected by extended or remote work arrangements

This includes organisations where parents or caregivers spend extended periods away from home, such as defence, emergency services, remote industry, or essential infrastructure roles.

The initiative integrates as a supported program — not a consumer product.

Our Approach

Legacy Read-Aloud™ is built with care, collaboration, and emotional safety at its core. The initiative combines storytelling, illustration, and gentle technology to support children in a way that feels familiar, comforting, and non-intrusive.We work alongside partner organisations to ensure Legacy Read-Aloud™ aligns with existing care, education, and safeguarding frameworks — adapting thoughtfully rather than disrupting established practices.

About the Founder

Legacy Read-Aloud™ was founded by Tess Grandison, an Australian children’s author and illustrator with a long-standing focus on emotional literacy, storytelling, and family connection.Through her work creating story-led experiences for children, Tess recognised the powerful role a familiar voice plays in helping children feel safe, comforted, and emotionally grounded.Legacy Read-Aloud™ grew from this understanding — combining story, voice, and care to support children and families in meaningful, lasting ways.
